Bylaws of the Texas Radiological Society

Article VI: Officers
The officers of the TRS are the President, the President-Elect, the Immediate Past-President, the First Vice-President, the Second Vice-President, the Secretary, the Treasurer, the Chief Councilor, the Chair of the Section of Radiation Oncology, and the Chair of the Section of Medical Physics.

Section 1 – Election of Officers

  1. Election of officers, as well as election of Councilors and elected members of the subsequent year’s Nominating Committee, shall occur at the annual business meeting.
    1. The Nominating Committee shall submit its list of candidates for approval to the interim Executive Committee meeting.
    2. At least 30 days prior to the annual business meeting, the names of the nominees shall be submitted to the voting members of the Chapter. This may be done either by mail or by posting the names on the TRS Web-site.
    3. Nominations may be made from the floor at the annual business meeting for the positions of Second Vice-President, Councilor, Alternate Councilor or elected member of the subsequent year’s Nominating Committee.
    4. Election is by a majority vote of the members present and eligible to vote at the annual meeting. A run-off between the two candidates receiving the most votes shall be held if no candidate receives a majority vote on the first ballot.

Section 2 – Terms of Office

  1. The President, President-Elect, First Vice-President, and Second Vice-President shall serve one-year terms.
  2. The Secretary and Treasurer shall serve three-year terms and shall be eligible for reelection.
  3. The Chief Councilor shall be elected by the Councilors and shall serve a two-year term but may be re-elected at the pleasure of the Councilors (Article XIV, Sec. 5).
  4. The Vice Chief Councilor shall be elected by the Councilors and serve a two year term may be re-elected at the pleasure of the Councilors. In case of resignation of the Chief Councilor, the Vice Chief Councilor shall succeed the Chief Councilor until the next meeting of the Councilors.
  5. The Chair of the Section of Radiation Oncology shall be elected according to the Bylaws of that Section.
  6. The Chair of the Section of Medical Physics shall be elected according to the bylaws of that section.
  7. The Chair of the Resident Physician Section shall be elected according to the bylaws of that section.
  8. Elected officials shall take office at the end of the TRS business meeting at which they are elected. Elected Councilors and Alternate Councilors shall take office at the end of the next ACR annual meeting.

Section 3 – Progression of Officers

  1. Once elected, the Second Vice-President shall progress on a yearly basis sequentially through the offices of First Vice-President and President-Elect to President.
