Article VII: Duties of Officers

Section 1 – President
The President shall be the presiding officer of the TRS and shall perform all the duties that custom and parliamentary practice associate with the office of the President. The President shall:

  1. be a member ex-officio of all committees and shall act as Chair of the Executive Committee;
  2. fill any vacancies of appointed positions during his/her term of office.
  3. Within 30 days the new President will complete appointment of committees for the following year and provide a list to the Secretary.
  4. In the absence of the President, or in his or her inability to act, the order of succession to the duties of the office shall be as follows: President-Elect, First Vice-President, Second Vice-President.

Section 2 – President-Elect
The President-Elect shall be an ex-officio member of all committees and become acquainted with policies of the organization through the officers, standing committees, and those in charge of the specific activities.

  1. At the close of the annual business meeting, the President-Elect automatically becomes President.
  2. Within 30 days the new president will complete appointment of committees for the following year and provide a list to the Secretary.
  3. A roster of officers, committee members, other appointments and general information shall be published and distributed to the membership by the Secretary.

  • The President-Elect shall be Chair of the Judicial and Governmental Council and shall Chair the Legislative Committee.
  • The President-Elect should specifically make efforts to maintain liaison with the incoming Chairs of the Oncology, Medical Physics and Resident Physician Sections and their officers in order to function more effectively the following year.
  • In the absence of the President-Elect, the 1st Vice President shall fulfill these duties as well as those described under Section 4.

    Section 3 – Immediate Past-President
    The Immediate Past-President shall be Chair of the Organizational Structure Council and shall be Chair of the Board of Trustees, the Judicial Affairs Committee, and the Nominating Committee.

    Section 4 – First Vice-President
    The First Vice-President shall be Chair of the Educational Council and shall Chair the Program Committee.

    Section 5 – Second Vice-President
    The Second Vice-President shall be Chair of the Member Services Council and the Membership Committee and shall conduct an active campaign to recruit new members in cooperation with the President and Secretary.

    Section 6 – Secretary
    The Secretary shall be Chair of The Information Council. The Secretary shall:

    1. be responsible for recording and preserving the minutes of the proceedings of the meetings of the TRS and of the Executive Committee and shall forward a copy of the minutes of each meeting of the TRS promptly to the headquarters of the ACR
    2. notify all members of the TRS of their appointments and shall keep a record of the membership of the TRS
    3. notify all members as to time and place of meetings and of any special business to be brought before the TRS, and
    4. publish and distribute a roster of officers, committee members, other appointments and general information to the membership.

    Section 7 – Treasurer
    The Treasurer shall be Chair of the Ways and Means Council. The Treasurer shall:

    1. receive all monies due the TRS and shall disburse such monies.
    2. make a financial report to the TRS at each annual business meeting, to the Executive Committee at its meetings, and shall supply reports more frequently to the President if requested.

    Section 8 – Chief Councilor
    The Chief Councilor shall be Chair of the ACR Relations Council and the Vice Chief Council shall Chair the Practice Council.

    Section 9 – Vacancy in Office
    Vacancies occurring in any elected office, other than President (see above 1.4) shall be filled by a majority vote of the Executive Committee. If the Progression of Officers (Article VI section 3 above) is disrupted by illness, inability or unwillingness to serve, any vacancy except for President will be filled by a majority vote of the Executive Committee. A qualified individual will be chosen to serve any remainder of the current one year term. The remaining elected officers in the progression of officers will continue to progress in order and the nominating committee will then choose a new individual to assume the position of Second Vice President or Second Vice President and First Vice President if needed.
