Article XIV: Councilors and Alternate Councilors to the ACR
The TRS shall elect Councilors and Alternate Councilors to the Council of the ACR in such numbers and on terms authorized by the bylaws of the College and the rules and regulations of the ACR Council.
Section 1 Election
Election of Councilors and Alternate Councilors shall be by ballot at the annual business meeting of the TRS.
- The nominee for each vacant Councilor position who receives a majority of the votes cast shall be declared elected.
- In case no candidate for a vacancy receives a majority of votes, a second ballot shall be taken on the two candidates receiving the greatest number of votes.
- For each Councilor elected, the TRS shall elect, by the same procedure, an Alternate Councilor.
- Councilors and Alternate Councilors must be Members of the College.

Section 2 Terms of Office
The term of office of a Councilor shall be three years, or whatever term of office is prescribed in the current Bylaws of the ACR. Councilors are eligible to succeed themselves for one additional term of three years, but shall not be eligible for re-election to additional terms until a lapse of no less than one year; provided, however, that notwithstanding anything in this section to the contrary, the terms of any or all of the Councilors first elected under this article may be established at less than three years to insure that the terms of one-third of the Councilors or a number as near as practical so elected expire each year.
- Councilors shall be elected from each of the Council Districts as established by the Executive Committee and approved by the Membership at the annual business meeting. In addition the Membership shall elect Councilors At Large to fill the remaining Councilor positions allocated to the TRS by the ACR.
- A Councilor or Alternate Councilor shall take office at the close of the next annual meeting of the ACR following their election at the TRS annual business meeting.
- Vacancies which occur during the term of the Councilor or Alternate Councilor shall be filled by the President.

Section 3 Duties of Councilors
The Councilor's primary duty is to serve as a representative from the TRS in the Council of the ACR.
- The Councilors shall attend and participate actively in the meetings of the TRS and the ACR; shall familiarize themselves with the activities and problems of radiology at the local and national levels; shall act as liaisons between the TRS and the ACR and shall stimulate preparation of resolutions from the TRS for presentation to the ACR Council.

Section 4 Alternate Councilors
The Alternate Councilors shall help the Councilors in the performance of their duties and accompany them to meetings of the TRS and the College. The Alternate Councilor shall be prepared to act for the Councilor whenever necessary.
- The term of office of an Alternate Councilor shall be one year; Alternate Councilors shall be eligible to succeed themselves. An Alternate Councilor shall be eligible at any time to be elected Councilor for a full three-year term.

Section 5 Organization of Councilors
At the annual business meeting of the TRS, after the Councilors have been elected, the Councilors shall meet and elect a Chief Councilor. The Chief Councilor shall:
- chair the Councilors at all meetings and caucuses they may have;
- be responsible for the planning of the new Fellows dinner held each year at the annual meeting of the ACR to honor new Fellows;
- perform all other duties set out by the Bylaws.
- The Chief Councilor is elected to serve a two-year term but may be re-elected at the pleasure of the Councilors.
- The Chief Councilor may not serve concurrently as a member of the ACR Steering Committee.
- The Councilors shall elect a Vice Chief Councilor, who assists the Chief Councilor in all duties. The Vice Chief Councilor serves in place of the Chief Councilor should the Chief Councilor be absent or unable to act.
