Article XVII: Ratification and Amendments of the By-Laws

Section 1 – Ratification
These Bylaws become effective only upon ratification at a regular annual business meeting of the TRS by an affirmative vote of two-thirds of the voting members present. They must have been presented to the voting membership at least thirty days prior to the meeting by mail or on the TRS Web site.

Section 2 – Amendment
Amendments to these bylaws may be made at any annual business meeting of the TRS by an affirmative vote of two-thirds of the voting members present.

  1. Any proposed amendment must have been provided to the Bylaws Committee at least ninety days prior to the annual business meeting. The Bylaws Committee may edit the bylaw for form but not content.
  2. The Bylaws Committee shall present the proposed bylaw or bylaw-change to the Executive Committee at least thirty five days prior to the annual business meeting.
  3. An affirmative vote of two-thirds of the Executive Committee is necessary to forward the proposed bylaw or the proposed bylaw change to the voting membership of the annual business meeting.
  4. The bylaw or bylaw change shall be posted on the TRS web-site at least thirty-five days prior to the annual business meeting.
  5. Any amendment so adopted shall not be contrary to requirements for TRS status in the ACR and shall be immediately forwarded to the College for its records.

Section 3 – Concordance
Nothing in these bylaws or in any amendment to the bylaws may in any ways alter the status of the TRS as a Chapter of the ACR. Provision of these bylaws may augment but not replace the bylaws of the ACR.
