Program Objectives:
- Provide an overview of the current medical practice and economic issues surrounding PET imaging
- Describe the technical aspects of current and available PET instrumentation and evolving advances in PET imaging systems
- Discuss the underlying physical principles of F-18 FDG PET and its application to patients with emphasis on practical imaging protocols and methodology
- Explain the basic tenets of interpretation of PET images and how to recognize normal and abnormal radiopharmaceutical distributions and how to avoid common pitfalls and artifacts
- Review the current clinical applications and management implications of F-18 FDG PET imaging in the setting of central nervous system disorders
- Present a wide variety of high-quality clinical PET cases illustrating different manifestations of disease with expert discussion of the findings and their relevance to patient management
- Identify the principal uses of PET for the evaluation of myocardial perfusion, metabolism and viability
